What we do

  • Provide bins at the living sites and empty them every day.
  • Pick litter every day, and run regular large clean-ups of the common areas with volunteer groups.
  • Move waste in reusable rubber tubs and barrels rather than single-use bags.
  • Recycle what can be recycled, working with Real Precious Plastic.

  • Run our vehicles and generator on LPG to cut fuel use.

Why it matters

Rubbish piles up fast where hundreds of people live without services. It brings rats, disease and fire risk, and it is used as an argument against the people living there. Keeping the sites clean protects health, protects the local environment and shows a basic respect for the people who have to live in them.
